Ann Curry
Ann Curry is a photojournalist, journalist and author who has reported on areas of war for over 45 years. Her work focuses on the human suffering of disasters and human tragedy. Curry has been a reporter in war zones such as Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19th 1956, Agana American journalist, television news reporter and anchor who is most famous for her work as a correspondent for the Today show, a news morning program aired by the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was well-known for her reporting on catastrophes caused by natural causes and humanitarian crises that took place in war-ravaged regions. Curry is the daughter of a U.S. Navy sailor and the daughter of a Japanese woman. Her mother was living with their father during Japan following World War II. As a result of her father's military service her family has moved several times. Curry completed her high school in Ashland Oregon. The University of Oregon awarded her a bachelor of arts in journalism. Her exposure to diverse cultures and situations in her early years likely contributed to the empathy with which she approaches international topics. At age 22 she became the first female journalist at the station. Later, she became an anchor/reporter at KGW in Portland Oregon. The following year, she relocated back to Los Angeles as a reporter for KBS-TV. She won 2 Emmy Awards during the six years that she worked for this station.
